چکیده

Chronic renal failure, severe cardiac disease, pulmonary insufficiency, morbid obesity or any uncontrolled malignant or other systemic disease that limits the performance of extensive transperitoneal operative treatment induce extra-anatomic forms of reconstruction for aortoiliac occlusive disease. Within the period 19992003, we operated 37 such patients by methods of extra-anatomic bypasses. We performed femorofemoral bypass in 30 patients, axillounifemoral in 3 patients, and axillobifemoral in 4 patients. The satisfactory patency rate of extraanatomic bypasses, the absence of hospital mortality, well-accepted intervention and its technical attractiveness were the fundamental reasons due to which the methods of extra-anatomic reconstruction have found their place in our everyday work and utterly proved their worth.

Endovascular revascularization for aortoiliac atherosclerotic disease

Atherosclerotic iliac artery disease is increasingly being treated with endovascular techniques. A number of new stent technologies can be utilized with high long-term patency, including self-expanding stents, balloon-expandable stents, and covered stents, but comparative data on these stent types and in more complex lesions are lacking. This article provides a review of currently available ili...

Critical Limb Ischemia

Critical limb ischemia (CLI), defined as chronic ischemic rest pain, ulcers, or gangrene attributable to objectively proven arterial occlusive disease, is the most advanced form of peripheral arterial disease. Traditionally, open surgical bypass was the only effective treatment strategy for limb revascularization in this patient population. However, during the past decade, the introduction and ...

Endovascular intervention for peripheral artery disease.

Advances in endovascular therapies during the past decade have broadened the options for treating peripheral vascular disease percutaneously. Endovascular treatment offers a lower risk alternative to open surgery in many patients with multiple comorbidities. Noninvasive physiological tests and arterial imaging precede an endovascular intervention and help localize the disease and plan the proce...

Endovascular Therapy of TASC-D Lesion in Critical Limb Ischemia

Critical limb ischemia (CLI) is a terminal stage of peripheral artery disease (PAD); it is defined by the presence of resting pain and/or tissue loss for at least two weeks that may require urgent revascularization to promote healing and prevent limb loss. For patients with infrarenal aortoiliac occlusive disease, the revascularization options are surgery like aortofemoral bypass and axillofemo...

Percutaneous endovascular treatment for stenoses and occlusions of infrarenal aorta and aortoiliac bifurcation: midterm results.

OBJECTIVE evaluation and comparison of the endovascular treatment of isolated aortic and aortoiliac atherosclerotic lesions (stenoses and occlusions). METHODS a percutaneous endovascular procedure was performed in 52 patients (38 men and 14 women) with a mean age of 52 years (range, 25-85 years). The baseline angiogram showed 35 aortic lesions (31 stenoses, 4 occlusions) and 17 aortoiliac les...
